So you are wanting to live a frugal life. It is not always going to be easy, let me tell you that now. Saying you are going to be frugal and living a frugal life are two different things. It can be a daily struggle each day to be frugal.
Possible Frugal Struggle Times
First Struggle of the day is what will my lunch be or even for my husband while at work? I try to make meals the night before my husband works, that may have leftovers. So leftovers would be the first choice for lunch. If not, then check for lunchmeat for sandwiches. To be truthful, I have found myself, guilty of not making any lunch to take to work then end of buying a soda and buying chips or a sugary snack. Which is still using money, which I should not be doing in the first place.
Meal making time can be a time when money wants to be spent. It can a trying time when figuring out what to make for supper for the family. Imagine, just when you think you know what you want to make or are in the middle of making it and realize you are out of one ingredient. So you have to run to the store to get it. How many times do you go to the store and buy only one thing? Admit it, there are many times you see something or you realize that you need another as well. Trying to be frugal one must use what is in the house instead of going to the store so many times a week.
Do you have those children and spouses who like to eat once in a while or do not share the same spending habits as you? This can be a struggle as well when you are trying to balance spending and not spending. One must say, If you want to do “This thing next week,” then we cannot go out tonight. Just a possible idea of what to say.
How do you tell an adorable the word “No” when he wants those special cookies at the store that are around $3-$4 a package, when normally you don’t buy those unless they are on sale or have a coupon.
Things to Remember
Say to yourself, Do I need it or do I want it before buying something?
Do I have extra money to be able to buy that item, now?
What things do I have in my kitchen cabinets that I can cook for dinner without going to the store?
Is it a struggle for your family to be frugal?
